Murphy hates NRA and NASCAR

GOVT HURTING THE PEOPLE

The CT Curmudgeon has the privldlege to know a physician who has revolutionized certain aspects of medical treatment,and is past president of a major medical society. He said the research programs at the medical device companies has all but dried up. The industry can't afford to take a chance with the Obamacare business environment. There will be a plateau of technology because of this. We have a good standard of care now, but we can do so much more. Sad to lose the drive to make life better. The price of "fairness". Sigh.

Logic of Laws

There is a belief in this country that laws will fix all problems. After Enron, Sarbanes Oxley was passed to end corruption. Result business costs go up, and leave the country. There was a machinist at a company I worked at. Taped to his toolbox was this. "If you arent happy with what you own, how can you possibly be happy with more?" This thinking applies to politicians. They arent happy tha criminals ignore laws, how can they possibly believe they will behave with more laws? Criminals ignore gun free zones at schools and kill people. Politicians prose enlarging the GFZ. Right, that will work.

Snowplows vs Mailboxes

Taking a page from Tim White's data presentation, the CT Curmudgeon looked at mailboxes around town post storm. There were a good number of them down. Not using scientific method, it appears the boxes in front on the driveway in the direction of traffic fare worse. Isolated mailboxes, not near a driveway, seem to be down. Boxes on the downstream side of the drive way seem to do better. This could be an interesting study. Better do it soon, as they are being fixed fast and we are loosing data.

State Budget

Saw a break down of part of the CT budget dealing wirh transportation. It was a pie chart. The largest piece was debt service of 36.8. To me it seems we have a situation similar to having a credit card with nearly 40 percent interest. Yikes!

School Safety -Lock down drills

There was a lock down drill at the high school this week. I understand it went well. Curiously missing was communication to families on this. God forbid something happen, the public has had no information on how these happen, during, release etc. The pricipal said this is by design, so misinformation doesnt get out. There needs to be preparation now, and not via rumor behind a yellow tape barrier. Wonder how well the communications were handled in Newtown? There seems to be a cicrcle the wagons mentality on this in the schools. Again thinking of themselves (teachdrs) ahead of community. We should ask the police department on this.

Media Tricks

Here is an observation on how the media works against conservatives. In the last election, about a month before, rumors abounded Romney would win. We breathed easier, maybe let up on our efforts, and he lost. Now I hear rumors the weapon ban is dead. The other oddity that gegs in public discussion is, both candidates are terrible so I am wasting my vote. Or lets let them win and keep our hands off while their plans fail. I don't think these are accidental rumors. They are well placed and subtle methods to decrease our drive. Now they are exposed!

Magazine Capacity

To consider, many police and self defense situations using pistols, need to hit assalants multiple times, and often bad guys run away with these lethal wounds. A lethal hit is not an instant stop hit, despite Hollywoods artisry. If bad guys work in groups, and figure for some misses, five or six shots per assailant is likely. A pistol limited to ten would be empty prior to holding off a home invasion.

Immigration

So if this immigation package goes through, how much extra will we pay in education, section 8 housing, healthcare etc. Does any one believe the 11 million is a real number? Not really a reliable adminstration for facts.

Some mid terms at the high school are done as part of a group. Education theory makers are off the mark here.

Border Fence

Private property owners could build a fence on their land. If there was a foundation to fund this, i am sure the donation cash would flow in. No action will happen in DC on this matter, so lets do it ourselves.

The Cheshie Patch published percentages of homes with permits. Cheshire, as in most towns, has a rate of one in twenty. Rural ownership is one in ten This is a huge number. Here are things for School safety that should be in process. Feel free to share with school boards and lawmakers. These will do more to stop copycats than anything. Physical Upgrades, economical. 1. Lexan windows on doors and certain windows. 2. Entry bars. 3. Concrete anti-car barriers (single flower pots) at doors with risk of vehicle intrusion. 4. Heavy duty doors and locks in each classroom. 5. Sirens to mimic police en route panic buttons in various locations. With smart phone activation option. Physical Upgrades, capital intensive 1. Double entry doors (airlock style) to reduce risk of follow in entry on main entry point. 2. Concrete barriers at playground entry points to eliminate high speed approach to yard. Not full walling off. 3. Classroom door locks, with remote activation from office 4. Software to show hallway activity on classroom TV screens in cases of emergency. 5.
